Over 55s offered state pension forecast

Over 55-year-olds are being given access to a free estimate of how much state pension they can expect when they retire.

The Government has extended the personalised service, previously open only to the over 60's, to help millions of people plan their retirement up to a decade in advance.  The Department for Work and Pensions has introduced the scheme ahead of the new pension freedoms which are being introduced in April.

Savers will be entitled to a state pension statement giving them an estimate of what they are likely to receive based on their current National Insurance record
